Princeton - David Harley Specht, age 76, passed away on December 31, 2025, in Plainfield, Illinois.
David was born on June 3, 1949, to Harley Albert Specht and Margaret Anna Marie Specht (Brown). He lived a life rooted in dedication, craftsmanship, and love for family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diana Jane Specht, whom he shared a devoted life with. Diana was born on January 7, 1952, and passed away on February 11, 2021. Together, David and Diana built a home defined by hard work, creativity, and strong family values. David was a retired teacher, and Diana was a retired florist.
David found joy in working with his hands and creating something meaningful. His hobbies included woodworking, home remodeling, restoring old automobiles, fishing, and gardening. Whether in the workshop, on the water, or in the yard, David took pride in doing things the right way and sharing his knowledge with those around him.
He is survived by his sons Michael David Specht and Daniel Alan Specht. Michael is married to Megan Specht (McDermott), and together they have three children: McKayla, Liam, and Keegan Specht. Daniel is married to Kelli Specht (James), and they have three children: Charlie, Rowan, and Brody Specht. David was a proud grandfather who deeply cherished time spent with his grandchildren. David is also survived by his brother Dennis Specht and his sister Debra Rodseth.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, at Norberg Memorial Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments, located at 701 E. Thompson Street, Princeton, Illinois, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow immediately after at Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association in David's memory.
David will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet wisdom, and the lasting legacy of love and craftsmanship he leaves behind in his family and all who knew him.
