David Speigle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 10, 2025.
David Franklin Speigle, 89 of Muscoda, died on Friday, March 7, 2025, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. He was born on July 17, 1935, in Basil, Ohio, the son of Ralph and Alma (Rarick) Speigle. David served in the US Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1960. On September 15, 1962, he was united in marriage to Lynne Schneider at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls, WI. David worked at Scot Ind Inc from September 1960 until his retirement in 2003. He retired as VP of Scot Ind Inc and General Manager of the West Coast and Mid West operations. David served in several capacities while employed at Scot. He was most proud of the contributions that Southwest, WI made to Scot Ind in the form of talented workers who helped grow the company at its many sites. David was an active trap shooter achieving 25,000 16 yard targets in May of 1992, 25,000 handicap targets in July 1994, and 25,000 doubles targets in July of 2007. He got his 100 straight pins at Waukesha and Muscoda. The Bucky 100 was tough. He was inducted into the Muscoda Sportsmans League Hall of Fame in 2003 in recognition of his 30 years of service as Secretary-Treasurer of the club. He was active in community affairs serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and joint Fire Board. He was an active member of the Holy Name Society of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a life member of Wisconsin Trapshooting Association, American Trapshooting Association, NRA, American Legion, and Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin. He was named Citizen of the Year in 1983. He and Lynne had a passion for helping the bluebird population. They had over 60 birds housed in the greater Muscoda area. After retirement, he spent many days playing golf with his longtime golfing partner, Dick Olson. 'Straight is long.'

David is survived by his wife Lynne; three children: David Andrew (Angela) Speigle of Wooster, OH, Russell Allen (Anne) Speigle of Poynette, Elizabeth Katherine (Augusto Centeno) Speigle of New Port News, VA; six grandchildren: Mitchell and Sarah Speigle, Kessler and Abigail Speigle, and Joshua and Julia Centeno; great-grandchildren: Daxton and Jackson; sisters: Karen L. Pugh of Wisconsin Rapids, Linda L. (Ken) Otzelberger of Hartland; brother-in-law: Thomas Schalk of Hartland; sister-in-law: Ulla (Richard) Taylor of El Paso, TX; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
