DAVID STEIN Obituary
With great regret and sorrow, we report the sudden death of our beloved David G. Stein of
Philadelphia/Abington/Sde Boker, on 20 Feb 2025, in a hiking accident while on vacation abroad with his
wife, Robin Eisman. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and David Coddington,
of Israel, and nephew Judah (Oodie) and nieces Ariel and Tali, of Israel and California, respectively, as
well as Robin's sons and daughter-in-law Ben (Shira Rascoe) and Jake Weilerstein and a grandchild, on
whom he doted, plus 7 grandnieces and -nephews, who were never far from his mind. He also leaves
behind his beloved cousin Janis Risch and her brothers and other cousins.
David was beloved by many and was first and foremost a 'people person'. His idealism led him to his
profession in social work. He created lifelong friendships within his hiking groups, for which he often led
hikes, and his frisbee club, as well as on his travels around the world, visiting dozens of countries over
the years and engaging in serious adventures alone or with others. He never met a dog or cat he didn't
like, greeting every single dog he passed, and would usually engage their owners as well. The
Wissahickon, which he lived within walking distance of for many years, was his escape when not
travelling abroad. Following his recent retirement, he became an active volunteer there, patrolling trails
and engaging in restoration projects. He will be deeply, deeply missed.
