David Stern Obituary
David was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and spent his childhood moving between different states as his father took on various government roles. When David was nine, the family settled in Huntsville, Alabama, where he spent the rest of his life.
A bright and intellectual individual, David graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree. His love for books was evident in his impressive collection, many of which were first editions.
David was known for his sociable nature and warmth toward others. He had a friendly relationship with everyone he encountered, always taking the time to greet neighbors and even pet a dog along the way. His sense of humor, kindness, compassion, and non-judgmental attitude made him a beloved figure. David was a gentle and beautiful soul who touched the hearts of many.
He is survived by his sister, Cathy Spangler (husband, James), and his brother, Michael Stern (wife, Kimberly), as well as by his many nieces and nephews: Jim, Deborah, Alexander, Jon Michael, and Dylan, and five great-nieces and nephews: Calliope, Samuel, Niko, Faye, and Talia.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Hampton Cove Funeral Home in Owens Cross Roads.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David's memory to a charity of your choice.
