David G. Svehla
Edwardsville - David G. Svehla, age 77, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Edwardsville.
He was born October 6, 1947, in Highland, IL, the son of the late George A. & Bernice E. (Drexelius) Svehla. David married Agnes "Aggie" R. Thole on June 16, 1973, in St. Rose, IL.
Aggie preceded David in death on March 25, 2021.
David is survived by two sons, Brian M. Svehla, of Edwardsville, IL, and two grandsons, David A. & Daniel J. Knoblauch; son, Travis J. Svehla, of Troy, IL, with two granddaughters, Sydney & Samantha Svehla. Besides his parents and wife, David was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Therese Svehla. David was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War and during his service, earned his sharpshooter's badge. After his military service David went to work for Southwestern Electric and retired after almost 40 years of service. In his personal life, David shared a passion for his family, friends, and woodworking - he was happy with a chainsaw in hand and making firewood. David also enjoyed country line dancing for 26 years with his wife Aggie where they made many wonderful friends.
