David “T-Bug” Rodney Welch, 85, of Hackberry, LA passed away on October 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Hackberry, LA on July 14th, 1939, to Anderson and Evelyn Welch. “T-Bug” loved riding motorcycles, shooting guns and participating in poker runs for various events. He enjoyed traveling, weightlifting and being a member of the NRA as well as a HOG member. One of his pastimes was going to gun shows and car shows. “T-Bug” worked a lifelong career as a pipe fitter for Turner industries in the construction industry.
Those left to cherish his memory are three children; David Wayne Welch and wife Carolyn, Tammy Gay Welch, and Bobbie Hicks; 5 grandchildren, Jaime Welch, Chance Case, Waylon Raymond, Tiffanie Raymond, and Autumn Raymond; 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Donald Ray Welch, Gerald Wayne Welch, and Grace Welch Simon; and second wife and lifelong friend and caretaker, Martha Hicks Welch.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jake Allen Welch; daughter, Vicki Lynette Welch Case; siblings, Brenda Sue Venable, Evelyn Marie Turner, and Peggy Ruth Eubanks; brother, Anderson Welch Jr.; and first wife, Grace Simon Roe.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, October 11, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will begin on Thursday, October 10, at 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hackberry Community Cemetery. Pastor Marcus Wade will officiate services.
