David Allen Teets, 73, of
Adel, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
David was born on May 28, 1952, in Wyandott, Michigan, to Reuben and Lois Teets. Though he grew up in Michigan, his heart was always in Georgia. As a child, his parents kept a home on Lake Blackshear and he often said that when he was grown he would live there. Later in life, he kept that promise and made Lake Blackshear his home.
For 28 years David worked at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia. He was a steady, dependable worker who took pride in doing his job well and supporting the people around him.
David's # 1 love was his wife, Dayle, since they first met in 2002, and then married 03/03/03. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and watching NASCAR, always pulling for his favorite driver, #3, Dale Earnhardt. Some of his best days were simple ones-on the water, in the woods, or watching a race. More than anything, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.
David and his wife, Dayle, built a life together at Lake Blackshear before later settling in Cook County, Georgia. Their home was a place of warmth, humor, and open doors for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Dayle Stalvey Teets and very special fur baby, Coca-Lola, his brothers, Mike Teets (Atlanta, MI), Ron Teets and his wife Julie (Taylor, MI); his sons, Anthony Teets (Saginaw, MI), Seth Rountree and his wife, Beth (Destin, FL); his daughter, Melony Carter and her husband, Jessie (
Adel, GA); his beloved grandchildren, Gavin (Jess) Merwin, Carson (AnnaRae) Merwin, Harrison (Shelley) Waller, Sara Beth Rountree (fiancé, Zach Copenhaver), Jacob Teets, and Justin Teets; his great grandchildren, Emma Claire Merwin and Collins Merwin. He is also survived by extended family and many friends who will miss him deeply. David is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Lois Teets; and siblings, Keith Teets and Sharon Heinzerling.
A funeral service was held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Adel Wesleyan Church with Rev. Doug Tolson, Rev. John Stephens, and Rev. Mike Davis officiating.
