David John "Dave" Temple, 63, passed away on January 6, 2026, in
Fort Morgan, Colorado. Born on September 23, 1962, in the same close-knit community of Fort Morgan, Dave spent his life rooted in the place he called home.
Dave was known for his unwavering work ethic and dedication to serving others. He worked as a butcher at Brush Locker, where his skill and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues. In addition, Dave devoted many years to working for the City of Fort Morgan, contributing meaningfully to the community that shaped him.
Beyond his professional life, Dave had a deep passion for cars and could often be found watching NASCAR or marveling at aircraft during air shows. A highlight of his life was flying around Morgan County with his son Connor at the controls. His love for engines and speed was matched only by his appreciation for nature. Whether it was a quiet trip to the mountains or a simple day outdoors, Dave found peace and joy in the natural world. These moments were even more special when shared with friends and family-those he held closest to his heart.
Dave's big and tender heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He cared deeply for his loved ones and made time for those around him. His presence brought warmth and laughter to gatherings large and small.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Temple; his son Connor Temple and daughter-in-law Sierra; and their expected son-Dave's first grandson-due in June 2026. He also leaves behind stepsons Eleazar O'canas Jr. (Mandy) and Benjamin O'canas (Misha); stepdaughter Crystal O'canas; step grandson Ouray O'canas (Brianna); great-granddaughters Aria and Ivy O'canas; siblings Sandy Cook (Mike), Ken Temple (Karen), Keith Temple, Krista Trimbach (Kent), and Patty Foiles (Greg); as well as many nieces and nephews who cherished their time with Uncle Dave. He also leaves behind his beloved furry friends, AC, Tabby and Momma Kitty.
Dave's circle of friendship was wide-reaching. Among those who will miss him dearly are longtime friends Gary Covelli and Chris Bledsoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Joyce Temple and numerous aunts and uncles whom he loved dearly.
Dave's memory will live on through the stories shared by those who loved him-the laughter around campfires, the roar of engines at races. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on January 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 1100 W Platte Ave,
Fort Morgan, CO 80701. Reception to follow at the American Legion, 121 Nelson Rd,
