David Ralph Thielman 1937-2025 It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Thielman announces his passing on September 13, 2025 at the age of 87. David passed away peacefully with his family by his side after living a full and blessed life. David was born on October 8, 1937 to Ralph and Madelyn (Murray) Thielman in Avon, Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Irene Harris on October 18, 1958. Together they shared 66 years of love and family. David graduated from Vocational High School in 1955 and proudly served in the United States Navy from July 1955 to August 1958 aboard the USS Sierra AD18. Following his service, he began a 34-year career at the Hopkins Post Office, retiring in 1992. David enjoyed fishing and camping, and throughout his life he remained a devoted fan of Minnesota sports. He loved playing cribbage, listening to music of his era, spending time on his porch watching Westerns, and feeding the birds and squirrels in his yard. He especially cherished spending time with his grandchildren, always telling them stories and making them laugh. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, warm heart, and gift for making others smile. Left to cherish his memory are: his loving wife, Irene; his children Julie (John) Cole, Tim (Annerose) Thielman, and Jill (Mike) Schmid; grandchildren Kelli, Angela, Brandon, Kevin, Amanda, Ellie, and Gavin; and great-grandson James. He is survived by his sisters Vivian Doucette, Janice Hagen, Diane Riegert, and his brother Tom (Pat) Thielman. David was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Madelyn. The family would like to sincerely thank Grace Hospice and all of the staff at Trouvaille Memory Care for their care and compassion. A private burial will be held at Fort Snelling. The family welcomes memorial donations to: BeneTrou, Inc. 2022 Amberg Circle, Chaska, MN 55318
