David Wayne Toran, born to father, Joe Hamilton Smith and mother, Edna Mae McClendon, on April 19, 1965, in Liberty, Texas, went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 7, 2025. He was a deeply loved individual who dedicated his life to the service of others through both his career and personal endeavors.

A proud owner and operator of Big Dav's Trucking, David worked diligently to provide for his family and community. He also served as a maintenance engineer from 1985 to 2015 and a bus driver for Cleveland Independent School District, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and commitment to ensuring the safety of the children he transported each day. David’s career was marked not only by his industrious spirit but also by his genuine passion for helping others.

David was a proud graduate of the Cleveland High School Class of 1984. His educational journey also included some college, a testament to his dedication to self-improvement and the pursuit of knowledge. He carried with him a faithful and resilient spirit, reflecting his values as a servant to the Lord. Outside of work, David found joy in simple pleasures; one of his cherished routines was visiting the barber shop every Friday, where he enjoyed fellowship and camaraderie.

Family was at the heart of David's life. He is survived by his beloved children, Daniele Roberts -Toran and Kenya Toran, and special friend, Alicia Acosta. He took great pride in his role as a father and was a loving influence in the lives of his grandchildren, including D'Amerion, Dylan, and Royal. Furthermore, he leaves behind brothers, Bernard Smith and James McClendon, and sisters, Diane Smith and Cynthia McClendon. David was also proud of his extended family, which included, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, his graduating class of 1984 from Cleveland High School and a host of friends who cherished his presence and unwavering kindness.

David was preceded in death by his father, Joe Hamilton Smith, and his mother, Edna Mae McClendon. He also mourned the loss of his brothers, Nathan Earl Toran and Johnathan Smith. Each of these relationships shaped his life, and their memories remained a guiding force in his heart.

David Wayne Toran will be remembered for his hearty laughter, generous spirit, and the love he poured into every interaction. His legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we honor his memory, we celebrate a life that was lived with purpose and devotion, reminding us of the power of faith, family, and friendship.
