Mary Ann Scott, a mother, grandmother, and devoted friend, joined her heavenly Father on February 27, 2026, in Kingwood, Texas. She graced this world with her presence for 87 remarkable years, having been born on September 18, 1938, in Romayor, Texas.
For two decades, Mary Ann poured her heart into her role as a chef at the Rainbow Cafe in Dayton, Texas where her culinary talents delighted the community and created lasting memories for all who had the pleasure of enjoying her dishes. She started out as a personal chef for Bill Daniels in Romayor TX. Her passion for cooking extended beyond the kitchen; she often found joy in preparing meals for family gatherings and special occasions, bringing people together through her love of food. She also had the pleasure of owning her own restaurant, "Mrs. Mary's" that served the community of Coldspring for years. Mary Ann was a woman of many interests and hobbies. She thrived in the kitchen, but her creativity also found expression in sewing. A sports enthusiast, she had an unwavering love for basketball, particularly for the Houston Rockets. Her vibrant spirit was complemented by her deep faith as she served the Lord, finding solace and strength in her spirituality. Mary Ann is survived by her loving children, Alvin Scott and his wife Brandi Scott, Dennis Scott and his wife Sherry Scott, and Sherika Scott. Mary Ann found immense joy in her host of grandchildren, whose laughter and achievements brought light to her life. She also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Joann Hawkins and Evaline Toran, along with many other loving family members and treasured friends who will miss her dearly. Mary Ann is reunited in eternal rest with her husband Dennis Scott, her parents Ben Howard and O.C. Hamilton, and her sister Ida L. McGowen. The impact she had on the lives of those around her will be felt for generations, a legacy of love and kindness. Friends and family are invited to honor Mary Ann’s life during the visitation on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by her funeral service at 11:00 AM at Neal Funeral Home located at 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, Texas, 77327. Interment is to immediately follow at Spring Ridge Memorial Cemetery in Camilla, Texas. Together, let us celebrate her remarkable journey and the beautiful life she led.
