David Anthony Torres Sr, age 64, of Socorro, NM passed away on January 27, 2025. He was born to Max & Prescilla Torres.
He is preceded in death by his father, Max A. Torres Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Prescilla Torres; his former wife and mother of his children, Patty Sarate; daughter, Melanie Sanchez; son, David Torres Jr; grandsons, Logan Sanchez, Brodyn Sanchez, David Torres III, Marcos Torres, and Jeremiah Torres; granddaughter Shianne Sanchez; and great-grandson, Bruce Armijo-Torres. He is also survived by his siblings, Max Torres (Mona), Karen Armijo (Allen), Jennifer Greene (Kelly), Joe Torres (Esther), James Torres (Bonnie), Darren Torres (Bunny), and Chris Torres (Mandy).
David was happy with the basic necessities in life. He didn't need or ask for much. He was kind hearted, generous, loving & willing to help those in need. He cared for all of his loved ones, every part of their lives.
He started working at the young age of 15 in retail. He was a hard worker. He managed the Sunset family business for many years.
He was a huge fan of Elvis Presley all of his life and he enjoyed listening to music, watching documentaries of Elvis, classic TV shows and movies. He always had music playing in the house, whether it be oldies or NM music. He loved dogs as pets and he enjoyed classic cars and playing pool.
He loved celebrating birthdays and he made sure to check twice that there was a candle on your birthday cake for every year of life celebrated.
He had a knack for playing practical jokes & eagerly anticipated April Fool's Day each year. He taught his family to embrace laughter and not take life too seriously.
He said throughout his life, " to never loose faith in God & to thank God for every second & the blessings He gives." A faith affirmation that his mom taught him at a young age.
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, humor, & unwavering love for his family. But truly for his honesty & his favorite saying in life, "You can't bullshit a bullshitter."
Private services will be held for David at a later date.
Pallbearers will be Logan Sanchez, David Torres III, Max Torres, James Torres, Darren Torres, and Allen Armijo
Honorary pallbearers are Melanie Sanchez, David Torres Jr, Joe Torres, Chris Torres, Marcos Torres, Jeremiah Torres, Brodyn Sanchez, Shianne Sanchez and Sammy Gallegos
