Dave passed away June 8th, 2022, following a car accident in Palm City, Florida. He lived 80 adventurous years. He was born to Thelma Weber and Richard Vanderslice on January 25th, 1942, in the small town of Dansville, New York. He graduated from Dansville High School where he played football and was also an Eagle Scout. Dave went on to earn his bachelor's degree in business administration from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. During his time there he also served as President of his Fraternity.
After starting in accounting his career led him to the Christmas business. After starting out in stockings, he sold garland, then Christmas cards and ribbons and bows. The highlight of this each year was Toy Fair in New York City where his wife Nancy often accompanied him.
As markets changed, Dave paved the way for his company to open a show room in Hong Kong and sourced manufacturers in Taiwan. His son, daughter, and wife all had opportunities to visit him overseas and explore the city.
Dave was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he volunteered his time. He had a strong faith, outgoing personality, and a passion for helping others.
He's survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy, son Jon Vanderslice of Duluth, GA (Audrey), daughter Julie Collins (Mike) of Palm City, FL, and two bonus children, Mark Consolatti of Palm City, FL and Scott Consolatti of Cary, NC. His brother Michael Vanderslice (Sharon) resides in Kirkland, WA.
Grandchildren include Katherine and Michael Consolatti, Erica Chen, and Palmer and Quinnlan Collins.
A celebration of life will be held July 23rd at 11am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palm City, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Elevate Hope (https://elev8hope.org/) or Family Promise (https://www.mcfamilypromise.org/).
