David J. Watson Jr., 91, of Coxsackie, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025.
David was born in Scranton, PA, on December 2, 1933 to the late David J. Watson Sr. He is predeceased by his son David J. Watson Jr., his Wife, Theresa Watson, and all of his siblings; Bobby, Janet, Mary, and James.
He served in the Army active duty and then the National Guard of NJ for 2 1/3 years. Active duty was in the Army Infantry at Fort Kobbe in Panama during the Korean conflict as an expert rifleman - squad leader of rifle company. He became a staff sergeant and received the good conduct medal. He was a member of the American Legion.
After his service, he got his Bachelors Degree ar Montclair State in Education. He was a tool and die maker by trade and taught metal shop at Union HS in NJ. He continued teaching on the college level in NY where he obtained his Masters Degree.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, boating, time in the outdoors, and working with his hands. His love for animals ran deeply, which he shared with rhe many dogs he's had over the years. He spent many years enjoying the snowbird life between Cape Vincent, NY and Port Charlotte, FL. He had a wicked sense of humor, great laugh and smile, loved by many, and always kept himself busy.
David is survived by his daughter and her husband, Michele and Allen Anderson, stepdaughters Caroline, and Vivian, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial gathering at the W.C Brady's Funeral home located at 97 Mansion St, Coxsackie, NY, 12051 on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Catskill, NY.
A celebration of Life will be held in NJ at a later date.
