Published by Legacy on Feb. 8, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David W. Watt, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. David left us on February 6, 2025, and was preceded in death by his daughter Kathleen P. Snider (nee Watt) He was 86 years old.
David was born on July 5, 1938, in Chicago Illinois. His family was the center of his world, and his unconditional love and unwavering support were felt by everyone. He took immense pride in the accomplishments of his grandsons David J. Watt and James P. Watt. And he was especially looking forward to meeting his great-grandson, Rowan, son of David J. Watt and Allison Schmidt of Lincoln, NE.
David was a U.S. Navy Seabee, having served from 1957 through 1961.
He embodied the "Can Do" spirit and he truly could fix anything but a broken heart.
After his military service, David worked as an Operating Engineer for 36 years for the
State of Illinois, Local 399.
He was also an avid ham radio operator - Call Sign WB9VNB and model boat builder. Along with his hobbies, he adored spending time with his two Dachshund's
Roxie and Clementine.
David is survived by his wife, Joan M. Watt, son, James T. (Nancy) Watt, grandsons David J. (Allison Schmidt) Watt and James P. Watt, great-grandson Rowan Watt and son-in-law, Arthur W. Snider. David's memory will forever be in our hearts.
