David Wayne Weckwerth, 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his german shepard Caesar and cat Dale on the morning of Wednesday July 19, 2023.
He was born June 22, 1951, in Albert Lea to Bernard D. Weckwerth and Mable C. Weckwerth. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. On September 27, 1975, he married Margaret A. Dooley at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. He grew up in Hayward and Albert Lea. He worked several jobs over his lifetime; owning Dave’s Machine Shop, working security for GSSC, and retiring from Enderes Tool. He volunteered with Boy Scouts as an assistant leader while his son was a scout, the Red Cross, REACT, and driving for the Big Island Rendezvous. He enjoyed many pastimes and hobbies; gun smithing, archery, fishing, photography, reading owning over a 1,000 books, and watching YouTube and Facebook in later years.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Margaret; twin daughters Dawn (David) Heikkila, Dixie (Chris) Yost; son Joseph Weckwerth and his partner Heather Heim; son-in-law Alvin Putman; grandchildren Sean Putman, Mikayla Putman, Aidan Heikkila, Shelby Heikkila, Amelia Yost, Aaron (Bobbie) Weaver, Jimmy Bendickson, and Kaleb Hernandez. Along with the many children that saw him as a father-figure especially Matt (Wahnita) Giebel and Paul Giebel.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Bernard and Mable Weckwerth and one grand-child angel baby Heikkila.
His family invites you to a Celebration of Life for David at the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) in Albert Lea from 3-6pm on Saturday October 7th, 2023.
