In Loving Memory of David Wetcher 1937 – 2025 David Wetcher, age 88, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Throughout his remarkable 88 years, David touched countless lives in such a positive and lasting way. His kindness, optimism, and genuine care for others were felt by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marion VanArsdale Wetcher; his loving sons, Randy Wetcher (FL), Greg Wetcher (Lori) (PA), and Brian Wetcher (Raissa) (MD); his grandchildren, Alec (Maddi), Ryan, Cooper, Sutton, Nick, and Samantha; as well as numerous other family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
In the early years of his career, David dedicated 21 years to the YMCA, working across multiple locations and inspiring a love of fitness, community, and personal growth in all who crossed his path. A lifelong advocate of athletics, David found joy and purpose in staying active—whether on the racquetball court, playing pickleball, or training for and competing in numerous triathlons. His passion for wellness and friendly competition remained strong throughout his life.
David truly loved living at Smith Mountain Lake with Marion and enjoyed visits from family and friends. He was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He loved God, his family, and his church family.
