Sharon Lee Vollert, 85, of Moneta, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on July 16, 1940, in Fulton, New York, Sharon was the beloved daughter of the late Gordon and Doneita (Haggerty) Pollard. She earned her degree in Nutrition from Northern Virginia Community College and dedicated her career to nourishing young minds as a Food Service Manager for the Fairfax County School District. Sharon’s commitment to service extended beyond her profession—she was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America’s Far East Council, where she made a lasting impact. Her greatest joys came from time spent with her grandchildren, tending her garden, reading, traveling, and watching the wildlife from her cherished back porch. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law, Grant Butterworth, and brother-in-law, John Wetterman. Sharon is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Warren Vollert; her children: Kurt (Gloria) Vollert of Mechanicsburg, PA; Patty Butterworth of Northern Virginia; and Scott Vollert and his partner, Annabella Padron, of Clifton, VA; and her grandchildren: Alexander Vollert, Bryce Butterworth, Thomas Butterworth, and Kelsey Butterworth; siblings: Linda Pollard; Mike (Rosemary) Pollard; Jim (Kaye) Pollard; Gordon “Pookie” Pollard; Timothy Pollard; Doneita “Punkin” (Phil) Arduini; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Vollert) Wetterman; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Her warmth, strength, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm November 15, 2025, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 13586 S. Old Moneta Road, Moneta, Virginia. The service will be followed by a celebration of life in the fellowship Hall at the Church. Refreshments will be served, please RSVP to help us with planning.
