David Williams Obituary

Memorial service for David Allen Williams, age 78, of Clovis, New Mexico, is scheduled for 11:00 AM MST, Thursday, April 18, 2024 at First Methodist Church in Clovis with Rev. Jeb Archey of Clovis officiating. David died Sunday, April 14, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born November 24, 1945 in Clovis to Charles and May Lea (Morse) Williams. He married Connie Marie Rebell in Denver, Colorado on July 19, 1970.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Senator Pat Woods, Steve Ray, Stan Fury, Rachel Armstrong, Dr. Ken Merritt,
R. Lynn Blair, Mike McDaniel, Rob Williams and Rube L. Render.
David grew up in the Grady community on the Williams family farm west of town. He graduated from Grady High School in 1963 and after a year at ENMU he moved to Las Cruces where he attended NMSU and worked at White Sands Missile Range until his graduation in 1972. While in college, he met and married his wife. They returned to Clovis where they raised their three children.
Through his career, David worked at Farmer's Coop Elevator, First Savings Bank, and finally settled as an insurance agent at Williams Insurance Agency where he partnered with his father until his death in 2009. At Williams Insurance, he also had the opportunity to work with his daughter, Jennifer and son, Todd. He continued working until his illness no longer allowed.
David is preceded in death by his parents.
David is survived by his wife, Connie; his son, Todd Williams and his wife, Adrienne and their children, Allison and Reese of Lubbock, Texas; his two daughters, Jennifer Williams of Clovis, New Mexico and Dayna Williams of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Dr. James Williams and his wife, DeDe of Buena Vista, Colorado; a sister, Deborah Willliams of Farwell, Texas; and an aunt, Naomi Williams, of Clovis, New Mexico.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Haynes and Rev. Jeb Archey for the special care and friendship they have provided to David.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to First Methodist Church, 1501 Sycamore Street, Clovis, New Mexico, 88101. Online condolences may be made at www.ellisfuneralhomes.com.
