David R. Wingrove, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully left this world on January 7, 2026, at the age of 89, with his loving family by his side. Born on June 2, 1936, in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, David became known not only for his unwavering spirit and dedication to his family but also for his remarkable talents and warm personality.

As a self-employed truck driver, David was known as "Mr. Fix It," always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. His career reflected his hard work and dedication, values he instilled in his family. Above all, he took immense pride in raising his children alongside his late loving wife of 59 1/2 years Wilma (Ringer) Wingrove who passed away on February 6, 2017, ensuring that they had everything they needed to thrive. His legacy is evident in the lives of his daughters, Barbara Padilla and Cindy (Rue) Strohecker, who continue to carry his teachings and principles forward.

David’s heart was deeply intertwined with his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren: Dennis (Candy) Martin; Amy (Mark) Andrews; David (Jamie) Padilla; Leslie (Troy) Yount; Jarrod (Rachel) Padilla; Natalie (Dave) Scott; Kristen Slaven; Andrea (Nathan) Strauss; Ryan (Josh) Wingrove; and Stephanie (Donald) McAnallen. He was particularly proud of his 19 great-grandchildren, embracing each one and ensuring they knew how loved they were. Being a “pap” was undoubtedly one of his greatest joys, and he thrived on being present in their lives, creating beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

David's passions extended beyond his family. He found joy in gardening, canning vegetables, and playing horseshoes. He was kind and welcoming, exemplifying the best qualities of a friend and neighbor. His warmth was felt by many, especially his wonderful friend and neighbor, Dolly Alderson, as well as his truck driving buddies, "Big Bird" and "Cooter."

David is survived by his daughters and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who carry forward his kindness and love. He joins his parents Thomas and Elaine (Emmert) Wingrove, his dear wife Wilma (Ringer) Wingrove, his late son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Marsha Wingrove; granddaughter, Madison Martin; son-in-law, Herman Padilla; brothers, John Shepherd and Ralph Wingrove; and sister, Betty Ringer, who have undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.

The memory of David R. Wingrove lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. His kind spirit and dedication to his family will forever remain etched in their lives, reminding them to nurture and cherish the bonds that unite them. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering support that will continue to inspire generations to come.

David will be laid to rest at Washington Cemetery privately.  All arrangements are entrusted to the care of the William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., Washington PA
