David Franklin Wireman, Jr., a man who could give Clint Eastwood a run for his money in a staredown, has holstered his last pistol and gone to the great shooting range in the sky. Born on November 14, 1960, in Euclid, Ohio, David made his exit on December 3, 2024, in
Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 64-though he'd probably insist he was just hitting his prime.
David was a man of few words but many calibers. After bravely serving his country in the United States Navy for four years, he spent most of his life as a Range Master, where he combined his love for guns with his fondness for telling people what to do. His passion for firearms was rivaled only by his love for Bonnie, his wife, and her three Shih Tzus, Chico, Chipper, and Cooper-though if pressed, he might admit it was a close race.
Preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and David F. Wireman, Sr., and Chancey, Bonnie's beloved Shih Tzu, David leaves behind a legacy that's anything but silent. He is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie, her trio of tiny furballs, and his brother, whose existence David acknowledged when necessary.
David will be laid to rest at the Albert G. Horton, Jr., Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, where he can keep an eye on things from a respectable distance. The date of his interment is still being calculated-presumably by someone who doesn't trust a calendar any more than David trusted an unloaded gun.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Virginia Beach SPCA. Those who knew David know it's what his heart-or at least his dogs-would have wanted. Donations can be made by clicking this link.
As David takes aim at eternity, we can only hope he's found a place where the targets are plenty and the coffee is strong enough to stand a spoon. Safe travels, David-you were one of a kind.
