Sam Wireman, 101, of
Chillicothe, Ohio, and formerly of Waldo, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on 12/15/2025.
Born March 21, 1924, in Waldo, Kentucky, Sam was the son of Morgan and Polly (Allen) Wireman. In 1942, at the age of 18, he answered his nation's call and enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country throughout World War II until his honorable discharge.
On March 9, 1946, he married the love of his life, Emogene (May) Wireman. Together they shared 72 years of marriage filled with love and devotion until her passing on August 7, 2018. Sam and Emogene were decades-long faithful members of the Richmond Dale Baptist Church.
Sam was employed by the Goodyear Uranium Enrichment Plant from 1953 to 1961 before beginning a long career as a machinist with the DuPont company, from which he eventually retired.
Sam was exceptionally generous with his family, church, and community, utilizing his building and mechanical skills to aid many. He also supported many charities and families in need. A quiet and unassuming man, he never sought recognition for his kindness and generosity.
An avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeyes, he rarely missed a game and cheered them on with unwavering support.
A lifelong learner and skilled craftsman, Sam enjoyed reading, machine work, gardening, and spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were exceptionally special to Sam. He attended their sporting events, taught them to water ski, and sang songs to humor them around many campfires. On an evening just days prior to his passing, with family crowding his hospital room, he appeared joyful and shared that we should all tell the people we care about that we love them.
Sam is survived by his loving family: children, Gloria (Paul) Fraley and Tim (Dianne) Wireman; grandchildren, Jason (Sally) Fraley, Matthew (Jenn Bartlett) Fraley, Adam (Julie) Wireman, and Tyler (Tera) Wireman; great-grandchildren, Paul Louis Fraley; Eva, Isaiah and Emma Bartlett-Fraley; Grace, Jake, and Davis Wireman; Abby and Bailey Hammond; Carli and Max Wireman; and Sam's sister, Mary Lou (Wendell) Caudill.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emogene; his parents, Morgan and Polly Wireman; sisters Mable Collins and Maxine Brammer; and brothers Clyde, Morgan and Allen Wireman.
Sam lived a long, purposeful life marked by service to his country, hard work, devotion to his family, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Richmond Dale Baptist Church, 213 Church St. Richmond Dale, OH 45673.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Debbie Anderson, Bobbie Howard (United Health Care), and the caring staff of both the Veteran's Hospital and Adena Regional Medical Center for their kindness and compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Bill Nichols officiating.
