Carol Ann Wireman, aged 77, of Tawas City, Michigan, and formerly of Tuscola County and
Cadillac, MI, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw. Born on December 23, 1948, in
Saginaw, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of the late Adam and Agnes (Downey) Zelmer. Carol's early life in Saginaw laid the foundation for a lifetime of dedication to her family and community.
A proud graduate of Vassar High School in 1966, Carol's passion for beauty and care led her to pursue further education at Howard Beauty Academy. Her hard work and talent earned her a degree in Cosmetology, a field in which she excelled for many years. Carol's professional journey was marked by over two decades of compassionate service at Lakeview Lutheran Manor in Cadillac, where she touched the lives of many through her roles as a nurse's aide, hairdresser, and administrator until her well-deserved retirement in 2012.
Carol's heart found its match on September 12, 1997, when she married her soulmate, Dennis Wireman. Together, they crafted a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Carol's ability to transform any space into a warm and inviting home was one of her many gifts. Her presence created an atmosphere where family and friends felt welcomed and loved.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Carol enjoyed deer hunting in her younger years, embracing the beauty and tranquility of nature. Her competitive spirit shone brightly during card games, where keeping score was a must, ensuring everyone knew who won. Carol's adventurous spirit was also evident in her love for car rides, exploring the world around her, and her enthusiasm for NASCAR races. Carol could often be found accompanied by a good cup of coffee.
Carol's creative talents were beautifully expressed through her knitting and crocheting. Her love for her family was immeasurable, especially for her girls and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Carol's legacy of love and care is carried on by her devoted husband, Dennis; her three daughters, Tracy (Darren) Rutkowski, Kathy Dickson, and Heather (David) Jaxson; and her adored grandchildren, Alex, Abbey, Dru, and Carson. She also leaves behind her brother, Roger Zelmer, and a host of dear family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Carol's life was one of selfless devotion and joyous engagement with the world around her. She was a beacon of strength and kindness, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Carol was reunited in death with her siblings, Tom Zelmer, Janet Ryan, Bill Nitz, and Infant brother, Kenneth, who preceded her in passing.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Carol's life will be held at the Denmark Twp Cemetery in Reese at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a Hospice or Cancer Researcher of your choosing.
