I recall every inch of your land you taught me lessons on as I grew up, how to beware of wolves in sheep's clothing as well as how to forego unchartered terrain with a soft & light foot. I recall you sharing your home with those that were homeless, I recall your lessons of timing for the trophy hunts; not to be derelict in application, but to be timed with such professional precision. I recall how you made strangers feel as if they were better than mere acquaintances somehow & how to practice grace & be quiet around the loudest & obnoxious in the room & yet prevail with the quietest of wisdom within your whispers. I will use all your lessons as I go thru my life & my hunts. I will forever cherish what we spoke of the last 2 days before your voice was quieted.*But know this.. your voice was not silenced & may your uncanny ability of knowing your game along with timing & precision guide me in my future endeavors .

I had the privilege of being in your home with the woman I love and you are truly one of my best friends and you taught me about the woods the animals and how they react to danger when it's coming and also you were always so simple and true how to react in a bad situation. THANK YOU DAVID LOVE YOU

So many wonderful memories, from waking up as a child after falling asleep and my first visual is a Grizzly Bear head that i am looking at to going deer hunting with him and asking him to slow down.(smiling )
I feel so very blessed to have known him the way that I did , he was a man that legends are written of
I wish that I had his calmness, his saying without saying, his always at peace .
I wish that I had more time with you Grandpa, Covid and things robbed us of more one on one which is a regret that I shall carry with me.
I remember you telling me in the woods to do what makes me happy, enjoy life and be with people who bring you happiness.
I am still focused on that and will live my life in gratitude of being your grandson
I love you...until we meet again

Grandpa Yates, as I knew him, was/is a kind, compassionate, calm man that set a positive example for all to follow. He had great adventures in life that most can only dream of possibly ever achieving. I honestly never heard him raise his voice in anger to anyone, nor did I ever hear him put anyone down. Grandpa Yates´ work ethic is inspiring as well. Grandpa was/is a proud military veteran as well. All of these are proud achievements, but I believe Grandpa valued his love for family, and dear friends as his greatest achievement.

Without a doubt, I am thankful to have known him, and learned from the kind way he spoke to/about others. Even rarer still is Grandpa´s respectful, kind actions followed the words he spoke. Grandpa´s integrity, and positive example will always inspire my life. Thank YOU, Grandpa! Love, and Respect always.
