David passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and dedicated wife of 61 years, Carolyn Fanucchi Young and his daughter Cheryl Piry (husband Jim) and son David Young (wife Jennifer).
David was born and raised in San Francisco by his parents Pauline and Charles Young, along with his younger brother Bruce (deceased).
He attended Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco and graduated in 1959. David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and reported for duty within a week of his high school graduation. After four years and receiving an honorable discharge from the Marines, David married Carolyn, the love of his life, in 1964 and they made their home in Burlingame.
He spent over three decades working in the automotive industry, where he held the position of Parts Manager for Albera Brothers Jeep in San Francisco.
David is also survived by his four adoring grandchildren: Ryann, Jillian, Nicholas, and Bennett. He spent many hours in the stands cheering on his grandchildren in sports as well as life achievements. He was a proud "Papa" and could be routinely heard sharing their many accomplishments.
David was an avid golfer and enjoyed many golf trips into his late 70's with friends from his childhood. He was fortunate to have made two holes-in-one in his lifetime. David enjoyed going on numerous trips with his wife and friends. He had the incredible experience of visiting the town in Switzerland where his mother's family originated. David "Auds" will be missed.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday, 1/9/2026 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1310 Bayswater Ave., Burlingame, CA. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to CDKL5 International (IFCR ,PO Box 926, Wadsworth, OH 44282) or masses said in David's name.
