Obituary of David Clark Zelmore
David Clark Zelmore passed away peacefully on March 7, 2023, with his family at his side at University Hospital, Newark, NJ, after a long courageous fight at the age of 60.
David was born on 10/25/1962 in Morristown, NJ, to Clark David Zelmore and Katherine (Bradley) Zelmore. David was a twin to William Zelmore, and they were the middle of 4 siblings.
David worked at Country Squire for the last number of years but had been a machinist at Vectronics Microwave in Middlesex, NJ, where he was introduced to his wife, Sheri (Birdy). They got married and started their family in Manville, New Jersey, with the birth of Michael and Stacey, twins, on March 24, 1993. He later moved his family to Washington, NJ.
My father was all about his family and friends; he never wasted an opportunity to help someone. Always was a provider and never asked for anything he couldn't achieve on his own. Dad was one of the most dependable, hardworking men I've ever known. Dad was always there for me when I needed him and is going to be sorely and deeply missed every day. Buddy and I remember our last walk with dad in Colonial Park and cherish it to the core.
Together we were always happy in each other's presence. He would always tell me, "I am better when you're around." Dad loved spending time outside in the yard working or spending time with me watching hockey, Nascar, etc., and I continue to watch for him.
What I have left of him is life, his class ring in 1981, and a smile on my face from our close memories.
Love you, Daddy; see you in the Milky Way. Watch over us, Please!
The children remember their Dad enjoying cooking and grilling and loved Holiday meals with and for the family. Growing up as a kid, David enjoyed summers when the family camped in many state parks camping to see the country. One of our favorite memories was in Allegheny State Park; David had a run-in with a raccoon. Memories include special dinner menus for each of our birthdays.
He is predeceased by his wife, Sheri (Birdy), in May 2000, his mother-in-law Betty Birdy, and his parents, Clark David and Katherine Bradley Zelmore.
Surviving are his kids, his son Michael Stephen Zelmore of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, and daughter Stacey Marie Zelmore and her fiancé Chris of Hamilton, NJ. Also, His siblings, Carol Z. Reinecker (Erich Reinecker) Roan Mountain, TN, William Zelmore, Bridgewater, NJ, and Gary Zelmore of Warren.
Viewing at Higgins Funeral Home, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, NJ, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 4 – 8 pm.
The final burial will be private.
