Davis Anderson, age 97 of The Woodlands, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, April 21, 2023, at Ater Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Brown officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Scott’s Funeral Home.
Davis Clinton Anderson was born September 18, 1925, to the late Henry Leslie and Johnnie Bessie Davis in Levita, Texas. He attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in Levita through the sixth grade and then began working on the family farm.
In 1943 he joined the US Army and served during World War II. He was a decorated war veteran, receiving the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for actions during combat. In 1950, Davis married his first wife Bertie Lou McDonald who gave birth to their first child, Kelley Lynn Anderson in 1960. Davis met and married his second wife Chong Ja Kim while working as a civilian aviation contractor in Korea. They welcomed their first child David Leslie Anderson in 1967. After moving back to the states, they had their second child Dan Clinton Anderson 1972.
Davis loved to fish and was an avid gardener and outdoorsman who enjoyed nature more than anything. He could often be found in his spare time helping others and looking out for those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kim; son, Dan Anderson; sisters, Edith Cox, and Syble Jones; and brothers, J.B. Anderson, Mack Vernon, and James Weldon.
He is survived by daughter, Kelley Cates and husband, Steve; son David L. Anderson and wife, Kelly; grandchildren, Amber Jowers and husband, Josh; Brian Harp and wife, Melissa; Mark Anderson and wife, Victoria; Zoe Wells; Kaleigh Danann; Avery McCoy; great-grandchildren, Bryson Jowers; Braydon Jowers; Brody Jowers; Brynleigh Jowers; Bree Jowers; and Carter Harp .
