Davy Muth Obituary
January 1, 1952 – November 7, 2025
Dr. Davy Muth was born in Kandal, Phnom Penh, and arrived in Seattle in 1981, where she built a life of
resilience, compassion, and service. A dedicated educator with a Ph.D. in Education, she became one of
the first Cambodian principals in the United States, leading Wing Luke Elementary with wisdom, warmth,
and an unwavering belief in the power of learning. She cared deeply about children, families, and the
community she served. Teaching was not just her profession; it was her calling.
A survivor of the Khmer Rouge, Davy helped her family and many other Khmer families safely
immigrate to America. She was known for her intelligence, kindness, love of travel, and passion for
hiking and personal health. Above all, she cared deeply for her family and community.
She is survived by her siblings Rin Muth, Ren Sao, Sopha Muth, Paula Muth, Jack Muth, and Darika
Muth (aka her daughter), and by her grandsons, Ethan and Jaden Oun. She is also survived by her nieces
and nephews, along with her extended family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.

I worked with Dr, Muth in Seattle for over ten years. She was the best principal I served under. She was an inspiration and I feel honored toassist er. We became friends and I will miss her. danny k louie

Dr. Muth was a perfect example of the American dream. Her life story is such an inspiration. The students, families at Wing Luke and the community at could see the possibilities for their lives and had pride that one of their own was a principal. She was my favorite principal of any that I ever worked with. She was dedicated, supportive, professional and approachable. She lead by example. She was one of my favorite people. I look up to her and honor her memory.
