Ruth Muth

September 18, 1935 - February 27, 2026

Cary, North Carolina - Ruth Cecelia Muth, 90, of Cary, NC passed away at home with family by her side on Friday, February 27, 2026 following an extended illness. Ruth was born in Shelby, Ohio on September 18, 1935, the youngest daughter of Ben and Adelia (Verhoff) Kempf. She was employed for over 20 years with ITT/Alcatel in Johnson City, TN and Raleigh, NC and was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Apex, NC. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gene Muth, and their infant son, Jeffrey Allan. Also, brothers Harold, Howard, Kenny, Verlin, and Sy Kempf, sisters Agnes Gerster and Thelma Hummel, and son-in-law Mike Kelly. Survivors include son Gregory (Nora) Muth of Johnson City, daughters LeAnn (Michael) Reed of Raleigh and Valerie Kelly of Cary, granddaughters Amanda and Kayla Kelly of Cary, grandson Andrew (Katie) Kelly and great grandson Gilbert Michael Kelly of Columbia, TN, brother Allan (Pat) Kempf of Shelby, and sisters-in-law Phyl Kempf of Shelby and Mary Ann Heimlich of Galion, OH. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Apex, NC. Family will receive friends from 10:15-11:00 AM at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local SPCA.
