Dawn Ainsworth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kalmer Memorial Services on Jul. 2, 2024.
Dawn Elizabeth Ainsworth, 68, of Sorento IL, went Home to be with her Lord and heavenly family on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024 from her residence at Alhambra Care Center in Alhambra IL.
Dawn was born on January 6th, 1956 in East St. Louis IL. She was the daughter of the late Albert Francis Ainsworth and Savannah Pearl Cavender Ainsworth Paul. Besides her parents, her siblings Gerry Ainsworth Middleton and Melissa Ainsworth, and nephew Adam Forester have been waiting to welcome her Home.
Surviving relatives are siblings Sherry Ainsworth of Mesa AZ, Connie Miller of Sorento IL, Karen Fudge of Alco AR, Caitlin Madden of Santa Cruz CA, Rebecca Luecking of Caseyville IL, Cynthia Young of Collinsville IL, Melody Forester of Sorento IL, Kimberly Kiltie of Shohola PA, Martha Paul of Sorento IL, and Shawn Ainsworth of Belleville IL, as well as dozens of cousins, nieces, and nephews who will all miss her.
Dawn was born in 1956 into a world that didn't understand much about disabilities or the ways to treat them. Through the years, as a society we have gotten much better at diagnosing, treating, medicating, and helping people with disabilities to live full, satisfying lives. It is because of people like Dawn that we have that ability. She was subject to many different treatments, care facilities, medications, and practices for her disabilities throughout her life, not all of which were even fully understood at the time. It is because of her life, and the lives of other precious souls like her, that we now have a much better understanding of the minds and bodies of people with disabilities, and are much more successful at educating and treating them with compassion, care, and kindness. Her life and experiences have so much meaning and purpose, not just to those of us who love her, but to all people with disabilities and their loved ones, because she helped all of us to better understand the needs of those who are disabled.
Dawn loved her family, cooking, singing and dancing to her favorite music, crafting, and collecting. She was a force of love and light, and she will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at Troy United Methodist Church at 407 Edwardsville Rd, Troy IL 62294 on Friday, July 5th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Family fellowship lunch provided after the service in the same location.
