Dawn Carol Alms

ROCKFORD - Dawn Carol Alms, age 84, of Rockford passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Born in Rockford on July 28, 1941 to Walter & Eleanore Williams (Goldenbogan). In her younger years she served as Bat Girl for the Rockford Peaches. Hardworking and dedicated, Dawn owned and operated Cardinal Glass Company for many years, finally leaving the company to raise her children. A huge advocate for animals without a voice, she supported numerous animal rescues and donated countless times to the Humane Society of the United States. She sheltered countless animals at her home over her lifetime and could never say no to an animal in need. A giver her entire life, she would help anyone in need and always with a smile on her face. Family was the most important thing in her life, her days truly revolved around her children and grandchildren, keeping her young and alive in her heart and soul. She had a soft spot for the boys, Adrian & Jason, and truly loved spoiling each and everyone of her children and grandchildren, her true pride and joy. A little spitfire of a woman, she has left her mark in this world for all the love and happiness she brought into our lives will forever be etched into our hearts. Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all.

She will lovingly be remembered by her daughters, Carol, Maria and Anita; son, Mark; brother, Monty; grandchildren, Jason, Kari, Adrian, Ethan, Ian, Lulu, Natalie, Paige, Morgan and Samantha; great grandchildren, Arianna, Selena, Dayvin, Myles, Adrienne, Julian and Walter; special friends who made her life meaningful, Heather, Vicki and Rob; and her beloved animals, Stella, Sadie, Bella, Lionel, Lydia and Bebe. She is predeceased by her husband, Gregory Alms; son, Shawn Alms; brother, Wayne Williams; nephew, Ryan Helm; special granddaughter, Amanda Hoffman; and her parents.

Graveside Burial Services to be held Friday, January 23, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Scandinavian Cemetery, 1700 Rural Street, Rockford, Illinois. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
