Dawn Marie Altman, 59, of Factoryville, PA, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on September 11, 2025.
Dawn was born July 7th, 1966, at Elizabeth General Hospital in Elizabeth, NJ. She grew up in Carteret, NJ, attending Holy Family School and Carteret High School before continuing her education at Middlesex County Community College, where she obtained her Nursing Degree. She enjoyed caring for patients in various nursing positions throughout the years and always treated those in her care with kindness and compassion.
She was a resident of Linden, NJ, prior to retiring and moving to Factoryville, PA, in December 2023. Throughout her life, she exemplified kindness in her roles as a nurse, friend, and family member. Patient and compassionate, she was always ready to listen and uplift others, offering prayers, encouragement, and positivity. Dawn was a dear and precious friend to many. She enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors in God's beautiful creation, and creating crafts. She devoted time and love to making special gifts for family and friends, always finding joy in giving from her heart. Her love for God was evident in everything she did, as she reflected His love through her actions and her heart. She frequently reminded her family of the importance of love and forgiveness. Dawn was a light to everyone she touched, and her warmth, faith, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Dawn was predeceased by her father, Theodore Woodman, and her sister, Doreen. She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Joel Altman; her daughter, Liana Waller, and husband, Michael Waller; her daughter, Rebekah Altman ("Bekah Boo"); and her soon-to-be grandson, Michael Joel Waller. She is also survived by her mother, Helen Woodman; her siblings, Deborah Ward and husband Daniel, David Woodman, Daniel Woodman and wife Carrie, and Deanna Hale and husband Richard; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
To her family, Dawn was not only a guiding light but also our rock - steady, strong, and unwavering in her love and support. Above all, she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the faith that guided her every step, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and light will continue to shine through her family and all who were blessed to know her.
Family and friends are invited to attend Dawn's funeral services which will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM from the Marcho, Sheldon, and Kukuchka Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Pastor Robert Collom presiding.
A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday.
