Chauvin Funeral Home & Crematory - HoumaDawn Marie Babin, born September 10, 1966 passed on March 26, 2026 at home with family. Dawn was born in Charleston, S.C. to her parents Richard Johnson and Margaret Cozy Johnson. In her teenage years Dawn moved to Lafourche parish with family and never left the area, eventually settling in Houma.
Dawn is survived by her husband Patrick James Babin, daughter Olivia Jeanne Babin, father Richard Johnson, sister Tammy Fayette (husband Robert and daughter BreAnne), brother Jon Porche, sister Amy Porche and stepfather Levy Porche. She is also survived by her adopted family and in-laws, the Ohlmeyer's, the Jarveaux's and the Heney's, all of whom she adored. Her friends were many and she valued the time and words shared with them.
Dawn was preceded by her mother Margaret Cozy Porche, stepmother Peggy Johnson and her father in-law and mother in-law, Claude and Jeanne Babin.
Dawn loved animals and saved countless strays over the years, either by rehoming or adopting. The ones she adopted were the luckiest in the world. Donations can be made to any animal shelter or organization that cares for, adopts or neuters pets and strays.
Olivia was the center of her world, loved completely as only a mother could. Dawn was quirky but was always steadfast in support of family, friends and causes she believed in.
Graveside services will be held at a later date, to be followed by a gathering of friends and family according to her wishes.
