Dawn Marie (Caouette) Burns
September 23, 1937 – January 2, 2023
WINSLOW -With deep sorrow, the family of Dawn Marie Burns, born Dawn Marie Caouette, announces her passing on Monday, January 2, 2023 at the age of 85. Her last year was spent at
the Bella Point Assisted Living Facility in
Camden, Maine.
Dawn was born in
Skowhegan, Maine where she graduated and married Albert O. Grant, Jr. They raised five children in Clinton, Maine where Dawn was a homemaker and went on to become a medical secretary at a neurosurgeon's office and eye doctor's office in
Waterville, Maine. Following many years in the medical field, they relocated to Lubbock Texas for a number of years. Upon returning to Maine following a divorce, she started work at Keyes FibreCompany (Huhtamaki) as an administrative assistant. It was in this position where she met and married Rodney Burns, her beloved. After leaving Huhtamaki, she worked and retired as an Administrative Assistant from Goodwill-Hinkley.
Dawn was a very private person and home was where she was happiest. Her hobbies were oil painting, sewing, and crafts. In her last years, she was a generous benefactor to the many charities and causes that she was passionate about and received many awards for her efforts. The top charities included the Policeman's Association, Fireman's Association, political candidates, and charities that catered to the care and protection of children.
Dawn was predeceased by her husband Rodney Burns, her parents Rosaire and Hilda Caouette, as well as two children Dawn Angel (Grant) O'Hara and Albert O. Grant III.
She is survived by her brother, Ronald Caouette and his wife Peggy and their family. She is survived by her children Lauren (Grant) Dow and her husband Doug and family, Jeffrey Grant and his wife
Sherry and family, Michele (Grant) King and husband Robert and family, as well as the family of Albert Grant III. In addition, she is survived by her stepdaughters; Delores Soule, Joyce Loubier, and Annette Levesque and their families.
We are planning for a Celebration of Life for both Dawn and her oldest daughter Dawn Angel (who passed in
Tucson, AZ in 2002) to be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home in
Fairfield, Maine at 11:00 am. There will be visiting hours will be Friday, May 12th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
