Dawn A. Denzel

Dawn A. Denzel nee Carlsen was born April 14, 1949, to Edgar Carlsen and Dorothy Taggart-Carlsen in Chicago, Illinois and passed away May 7, 2025. She was the beloved wife of 40 years of Michael Denzel; loving mother of Kristopher (Estefania) and Kevin (fiancé Rachel Ogdon) Denzel; proud grandmother of Harrison and Noah; devoted sister of Allan (Lisa) Carlsen and Diane Mudge; dear daughter-in-law of Barbara and the late Earl Denzel; fond sister-in-law of Jeff (Maureen) Denzel; aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Dawn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was centered around her family. When her children were young, she was an active member of the PTA at Willowbrook School, always ready to lend her time and energy to support their education and community. Her dedication extended beyond her family, as she played an integral role in establishing the Lew Blond Memorial Run.

More than anything, Dawn cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren (and grand dog, Annie). Her face would light up in their presence, and she looked forward to making many more memories with them. Her warmth, selflessness, and deep love for her family will be remembered always.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 17 from 2 to 4 pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kellogg Cancer Center at NorthShore Hospitals Foundation or Glenview United Methodist Church, 727 Harlem Ave., Glenview, IL 60025.
