Dawn Feddersen-Poindexter Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 25, 2025.
Dawn Michelle Feddersen-Poindexter, born on December 6th, 1979 in Bettendorf, IA passed away peacefully on October 23rd, 2025 at the age of 45. She was the child of Debra Feddersen. After graduating from Bettendorf High School in the class of 1997 and Saint Ambrose University in 2001, she fed her love for literature becoming a writer for the Quad City Times and later on as a freelance journalist. Her true passion in life was being an exceptionally loving mother. She married Ryan Feddersen-Poindexter on June 24th, 2006 and they shared 21 beautiful years together before her passing.
Throughout her life, Dawn was known for her fierce love for her family and friends. As an adult, Dawn led the family in cultivating new family traditions and discovered her love for cooking, sewing, hosting parties, and gardening. She loved traveling, animals, thrifting, and games. Dawn organized long road trips across America, spending whole days listening to adventure books along the way. Dawn loved to read and she devoured the works of Louise Erdrich, and her favorite writer Kurt Vonnegut. She nearly made her goal of travelling to all 50 states. She especially loved her travels to Ireland, England and Japan.
For 12 years, Dawn was a foster parent and brought children into her family for short and long term stays. She took in children of all ages while teaching them all to cook and sing in the kitchen her versions of Fleetwood Mac songs. She raised her family while providing a haven for youth.
She is survived by her husband Ryan Feddersen-Poindexter, her brother Lucas Feddersen, her children Chloe, Matilda, Beckett, and Caleb, and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Dawn's visitation will be at 10:30 am, and her funeral service will be at 11:30 am Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Our Lady of Peace Church, 5426 12th Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55104.
