Dawn Degeyter Gipson

New Iberia – A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday August 23, 2025, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Dawn Degeyter Gipson, 54, who passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Rev. Ed Degeyter will be officiating.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Matthew Higginbotham officiating.

Visitaion will be Saturday, from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home.

A rosary, lead by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday.

Dawn’s two great joys were her daughter; Evelyn, & her Stepdaughter; Marie, whose Personal and academic accomplshments brought Dawn immense pride. Dawn was thrilled to be able to attend Evelyn’s wedding to Kyle Rugg this past June, and thoroughly enjoyed this time spent with her family and friends.

A talented artist and exceptional cook, Dawn used her creativity to comfort and uplift those around her. She devoted her life to caring for the young, the elderly, and the under-privileged, offering her talents and heart, alongwith her infectious smile freely to anyone in need.

She is survived by her parents, Michael and Doris Romero Degeyter; husband Eric Gipson; her daughter, Evelyn Rimer Rugg (Kyle); Stepdaughter, Marie Gipson; Sister, April Degeyter Brar (Ravinderjit); Brothers, Brock Degeyter (Angela), & Lance Degeyter (Krystal).

Dawn was preceded in death by her grandparents, Viola and Roy Degeyter, Sr., Lucille, and Gordy Romero, and Marion Gauthier Derouen and Weston Derouen; cousins, Annie Degeyter, Billy Degeyter, and Jaime Degeyter.
