HALSTEAD
Dawn Rose Halstead (nee Giglia) age 68 on Jan. 13, 2015 of Glen Mills.
Born in Atlantic Ciry, NJ, Dawn felt most at home at the ocean and boardwalk. Her siblings and cousins enjoyed playing in their grandparents barber shop and Dunker Inn donut shop, where they would chat with the stars who performed at the casinos as they ate their breakfast. Some of which included “The Rat Pack”. A graduate of Upper Darby HS,’64, where she was captain of the rifle team and a student at Penn State. Dawn worked on some of the first computers, as a systems analyst, at TV Guide.
Around this time, she met her soulmate, Art, at the stable where they both kept their horses. The two shared a love for all animals especially the families numerous pets of horses, dogs and cats. As a devoted Girl Scout troop leader, she could often be heard singing her favorite Broadway musicals and Beatles songs. Her loyalty to the Philly sports teams was unmatched, especially for the Flyers. She spent countless hours at her children’s sporting events at BYC and was involved in starting the ice hockey team at Garnet Valley School Disctrict.
A loving, caring individual, who alway put her family ahead of herself. Not a holiday or birthday went by that she didn’t ask for world peace. Dawn’s never give up attitude was something to be inspired by, which she used to defeat many medical obstables for several years. She always said “They said it couldn’t be done, but the old fool didn’t hear them, so he went and did it anyway.”
