Dawn Rene Melton, beloved mother and dedicated friend, passed away in Jerome, Idaho January 27, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on December 7, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Dawn spent her early years in Shreveport, Los Angeles, where she graduated from Fairpark High School. Her journey into a rewarding career as a dental hygienist showcased her commitment to the health and well-being of others, earning her deep respect in her professional community.
Dawn was known for her passionate dedication to her work and her infectious spirit that touched everyone around her. She was an active member of the Berean Baptist Church, where she found both solace and community, bringing warmth and grace to those fortunate enough to know her.
Dawn's interests were as vibrant as her personality. She took great pleasure in arts and crafts, often expressing herself through creativity. Playing cards was a cherished pastime, and the laughter shared over the table will be sorely missed. Above all, spending time with her family brought her immense joy, and she created countless beautiful memories with them throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving son, Jonathan Stanitz, and his three children, Tyson, Jordan, and Janyce Stanitz; her daughter, Leslie Stanitz, along with her four children, Jade Stanitz-Tacy, Jordan Gotay, and Silas and Elijah Stearns; and her son, Michael Leonard, who shares three children, Eastin and Annabelle Churchwell, and Michael Leonard.
Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Berean Baptist Church, 175 East Main Street, Wendell. A potluck will follow with family and friends for anyone who would like to join us for this beautiful, amazing, wonderful, strong Mother & Granny!
