Dean Bottemiller Obituary

DEAN KENNETH BOTTEMILLER
January 9, 1934 ˜ July 31, 2024

Dean Kenneth Bottemiller, aged 90, passed away at home July 31, 2024, in Vancouver, WA. Born Jan. 9, 1934, to Daniel and Esther Bottemiller. Dean spent his life dedicated to education, his family, and his faith.
In 1952, Dean graduated from Fort Vancouver High School, after which he began pursuing his passion for education at Northwest Nazarene College. He then served honorably in the US Army for two years, where he embraced the discipline and camaraderie of military life. After his service, he returned to Northwest Nazarene College to further his education, deepening his lifelong commitment to both learning and teaching. Dean devoted the next 30 years to his career as a beloved teacher within the Evergreen, Battle Ground, and Vancouver school districts.
Dean was a devout member of the Liberty Bible Church of the Nazarene, where he not only worshipped but participated actively in the church for decades. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and relationships with others.
A man of many interests, Dean enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and especially camping and traveling with his wife, Neva. These outdoor activities brought him much joy and peace throughout his life. Dean’s favorite way to spend his time was with his beloved family _ he absolutely adored his grandchildren. Many of his dearest memories were from family gatherings throughout the years for birthdays, holidays and celebrations.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Neva (this year, celebrating their 70-year wedding anniversary); their daughters, Sharon Carlson, Diane Sprenger, and Cindy Miller (Wayde); five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Esther Bottemiller; brothers, Curtis, Forrest, and Jerry; and sisters, Elaine Oquist, Ina Heriford, and Jeannette Andring.
A memorial service will be held Aug. 27, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Liberty Bible Church, 12401 NE Salmon Creek Ave., Vancouver, WA 98686. Dean’s life was one of service, love, and faith, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Dearest Bottemiller Family,
When it comes to heroes, I considered your father to be one of mine!!! The brightness and joy of Dean's Christian faith emanated from his buoyant smile and amazingly positive attitude!!!
Once, while fishing with your dad along the Lewis River, Dean had a steelhead on the line and, even though only wearing slacks and tennis shoes, decided to get into that brisk water and follow that fish down river. Later, he came back soaked and without a fish, but STILL he wore the biggest smile saying, "He got away, but it sure was a good fight!!! ;o)
Hugs to you all and blessings to this fantastic man of god who now rests in his Heavenly Father's arms hearing......."Well done, you good and faithful servant!!" ><>
