Dean Lawton Brown, age 71, of Dillard, Georgia, passed away on September 24, 2025.
He was born on January 4, 1954, in Rabun County to the late Harry Lawton Brown and Geraldine Talley Brown. Dean was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Eva Jane Brown, who passed away on September 17, 2023.
Dean was a devoted member of Scaly Mountain Church of God and a faithful Christian who loved his Lord and Savior deeply. He never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel with others. A talented craftsman, Dean was a master carpenter and cabinet maker, building many homes throughout the Northeast Georgia and Western Carolina communities. He also enjoyed building birdhouses and traveling and singing with the Brown Family Gospel Group.
He is survived by his daughter, April Brown; his son, Dean Brown II and wife Haley; grandchildren, Ella Jane Brown, McKynna Brooke Brown, and Stetson Beau Brown; step-grandchildren, Hudson Stancil, Grayson Williams, and Chase Williams; and one brother, Tommy Brown. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Brown Tyler.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Scaly Mountain Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Donald Bates and Rev. Harvey Conner officiating. The family will receive friends at the house until the service hour on Friday.
