Died: July 25, 2022 in LaSalle, IL
Dean M. Gerard, 92, of LaSalle, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022 at the Illinois Veterans Home, LaSalle.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Lostant with Pastor Suzann Barr officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Lostant with military rites conducted by the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1492. Visitation will be held 9:00 AM until the time of funeral services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Gerard was born June 17, 1930 in New Bedford to George and Ethel (Peterson) Gerard. He was drafted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War as a mortarman and infantryman from 1951 to 1953. Mr. Gerard married Kathleen A. Cooper on December 2, 1972 at the Tonica United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working on cars and attending car shows.
Survivors include his wife, Kathi of LaSalle; two children, Angela Holloway of LaSalle and Mark (Deanna) Gerard of Saucier, MS; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Gerard of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Merwin Gerard; and one sister in infancy, Norma Gerard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
