John D. "Jack" Gerard

John D. "Jack" Gerard passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 7, 1930, son of the late Margaret Boback Gerard and Henry Edward Gerard and brother of the late Gary Gerard.

Jack moved from Pittsburgh to Blooming Valley, PA and eventually to Erie. He joined the Navy in 1948 and was a Korean War veteran. Jack was a truck driver all his life. He was a member of the Erie Masonic Lodge #362 and American Legion Post 237. Jack enjoyed auto racing both as a spectator and a driver. He raced stock cars with his late brother-in-law, Bill Elletson. He had a passion for bluegrass music and played the fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitar. Jack was proud of his coffee mug collection. He enjoyed country living in Phillipsville since 1964.

Jack is survived by his children, John (Susan), Mike (Diane), Terri Gerard Mattocks and Fred; his grandsons, Nick (Kim) and David (Megan); and his great-grandchildren, Clara Kate, Blakely, Jameson, and Grayson. He is also survived by his devoted partner, Mary Jane Blair. They enjoyed life together for over 40 years.
