James Howard Gerard Jr.

James Howard Gerard, Jr., known as Jimmy to friends and family, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at his home in Sharpsburg, surrounded by his wife and children. Jimmy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on November 9, 1942, to the late Margaret Brown Strassel (Pete).

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral mass celebrating Jimmy's life on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 3 Village Road, in Newnan, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow the mass at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Along with his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his son, James H. Gerard, III (Mary), and sister, Marjorie Strassel. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Kerley Gerard; children, Gregory Gerard (Tara), Warren Gerard (Jill), Suzanne Lenning (Justin); grandchildren, Jessica Sexton (Jeremy), James Gerard IV, Elizabeth Gerard (Christian), Merideth Gerard, Gregory Gerard, Jr., Angelica Skinner (Matt), Emily Lenning, and Erin Lenning. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Chloe, Gracen, Amelia, Skylar, Willow, Zoey, Collins, and Grant.
