Dean Goodman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nash Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. - Crystal Falls on Dec. 4, 2025.
The family of Dean G. Goodman announces that Dean passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the age of 82 at Peabody Manor in Appleton, WI, surrounded by the love of his family.

Dean was born on June 2, 1943, in Stambaugh, MI, to Gerald and Mavis (Johnson) Goodman. Dean married his lifelong companion, Lois Abrahamson, on December 28th, 1960, and together they raised two children.

Dean spent 37 years working as a railroad engineer for the Chicago North Western and Union

Pacific Railroads, a role that suited his dependable nature and strong work ethic. Retiring in

2003, he continued to embrace some of his favorite activities including hunting, motorcycle

riding, and cheering on West Iron County football and basketball teams. He also enjoyed

regularly volunteering at the Iron River Senior Center. He was happiest when surrounded by

family and friends.

Dean is survived by his wife, Lois; his daughter, Debbi Goodman; his brother, Jim Goodman; his

sister-in-law, Elaine Laakaniemi; and daughter-in-law, Dr. Lorene Lindstrom, DVM. He is further

survived by 5 grandchildren: Hannah Goodman, Chelsea (Jon) Kataja, Kylee (Tom) Vitala, Zach

(Melissa, fiance) Goodman, and Dr. Alaxandra Goodman, DVM (Andy Baussum). He is further

survived by 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces, one nephew, and many friends.

Though his earthly journey has ended, his family takes comfort knowing he is at rest and

reunited with those who went before him. Along with his parents, Dean was preceded in death

by his son, Allen Goodman; his sister, Sandy Melchori; his in-laws, Gunnard and Emma

Abrahamson; his sister-in-law, Carol Goodman; and his brother-in-law, Dick Laakaniemi.

A memorial service will take place in late spring/early summer and will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dean's name to

ThedaCare Hospice (https://thedacare.org/about-us/giving/donate) or to the Parkinson's

Foundation (https://www.parkinson.org).
