Dean J. Sidney, 65, a resident of
Panama City, FL passed away on April 30th, at his home.
He was born June 4, 1959, in Niagara Falls, NY, the fourth son of Kenneth Sidney and Shirley (Cooper) Sidney. He was a 1977 graduate of Rutherford High School. Shortly after graduating he moved to Wilton, ME with his parents and younger brother, Ken. On April 30th, 1982 his son, Rory Mikels, was born. On June 20th, 1992, he married Debbie Newcomb in Jay, Maine and on September 17th, 1993, their daughter, Ashley, was born. During his career, Dean worked various jobs as an experienced welder and First-Class Boiler Engineer. He was a longtime communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, Maine before moving back home to Panama City and was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
Dean was an avid hunter and fisherman and in his younger years was a talented boxer and tennis player. He also greatly enjoyed skiing, particularly at Sugarloaf and Spruce Mountain, where he taught his daughter to ski. He loved animals and had many beloved pets over the years, including his companion Sox. Dean had a heart of gold and never turned away a friend in need. He loved to spend time in the kitchen, especially with Ashley, who he always described as the light of his life.
Dean is survived by his daughter Ashley Sidney of Greene, ME, his son, Rory Mikels of Duluth, MN, his brothers Dennis Sidney, of Wilton, ME, Terrence "Terry" Sidney of
Panama City, FL, Kenneth "Ken" Sidney of Waxhaw, NC and their spouses, several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bruce Sidney.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, May 5, 2025 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 2403 Harrison Avenue. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
