Deanna Buchner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 16, 2026.
Deanna Buchner, 87 of Westfield, Vermont passed away peacefully at her home on February 10, 2026, where she was lovingly cared for in her final years by her loved ones.

She was born on December 10, 1938 in Bangor, Maine to Bill and Doris Dean. A true Maine girl at heart, Deanna carried the strength, passion, and grounded resilience of her upbringing throughout her life. She graduated from Hermon High School in Hermon, Maine and went on to build a dedicated career as an office manager for a reinsurance company, where she was known for getting things done!

She was married to Theodore Buchner and together they built a life centered on family and joy. In their retirement years, they built a log home entirely on their own on a beautiful piece of property in the woods of Westfield, Vermont. A legacy of independence, determination, and shared love of the land.

Deanna was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Buchner; her parents, Bill and Doris Dean; sisters Beverly, Cindy and brother Jimmy along with two beloved daughters, Kim and Deborah who were affectionately known as Kimmy and Bubby whose memories remained forever close to her heart.

She is survived by her children, Sandra, David and Kathy. She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren: Rye, Michael, Jesse, Casey, Maxwell, Griffin, Zachary, Sam, Ricky, Nadeane, Samantha and Garrett along with many beloved great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.

Deanna will be remembered as strong, passionate, and full of laughter. She laughed easily and often at the silliest things and that joyful spirit filled every room she entered. She loved to bake. Her kitchen was always full of fresh breads, popovers, cream puffs, and the ever-irresistible whoopie pies she made with love and shared generously.

From the 1950s through the early 2000s, Deanna became the archivist of our family story. She captured decades of celebrations and everyday beauty weaving music through images and transforming fleeting moments into timeless memories. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, needlepoint and family gatherings, where her warmth brought everyone together. Her life was marked by resilience, deep maternal devotion, and unwavering love for her family and friends.

She will be deeply missed and forever treasured.

I grew up with her in Hermon. Several of us would walk the back roads and sing , she had such a beautiful voice. Rest in peace.

I´m so sorry. Mom ( your dad´s sister Natalie) reconnected with your mom about 8-10 years ago. We enjoyed our visits. She had to get in a boat to get here. Loved her so much. You will be missed, Aunt Dee. Love , Gina ( Eaton) McHenan

We met Deanna and Ted when they moved to Westfield, many years ago. To say that they made a positive impact on our community is an understatement! They were active in the community and always brought joy, laughter, and dedication wherever they went. Our love and condolences go out to the family.
