Deanna Lynn Chalkey, 72 of Streator passed away Friday (August 23, 2024) at the ARC, Streator.
DeeDee was born on February 26, 1952, at the Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul to William J. and Ruth (Clements) Chalkey.
She is survived by her son Michael (Courtney Prentice) Chalkey of Streator, grandchildren, Alex, Keagen and Charlotte, brothers, Dennis "Mooney" Chalkey of Streator, Thomas (Susan) Chalkey of Gilbert, AZ, and Timothy (LouAnn) Chalkey of Streator, sister, Rhonda Phillis of Streator, step brothers, Ronald (Marilyn) Sauers of Streator, and Dale "Creature" Sauers of Streator, Step sisters Carol (Chuck) Noonan of Huntley and Brenda Heinz of Huntley, special friend Denise Stillwell and several nieces and nephews.
DeeDee is preceded in death by her parents and her twin brother Douglas Chalkey.
She attended St. Stephen's Grade School and graduated in 1970 from the Streator High School. Dee Dee was formerly employed at St. Mary's Hospital and private care as a CNA. She enjoyed fishing and doing word search.
Memorials may be made to St. Michael's School or to the family.
Following cremation, a visitation will be held Thursday from 4 – 6 p.m. with services following at 6 p.m. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Private family burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Alex Chalkey, Aaron Chalkey, Donny Phillis, Eric Phillis, and Tommy Chalkey, close friend Kevin Huey.
