Deanna Cook Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 24, 2025.
Deanna (Denlinger) Cook was born December 24, 1968 to Raymond & Phyllis Denlinger. She peacefully passed away, surrounded by family, on Friday, November 14, 2025 at the age of 56. She grew up in Modesto, California, attending Hart Ransom & Modesto High schools. She graduated from Modesto Junior College with a nursing degree and from Stanislaus State University with a Bachelor's degree. God used her compassionate heart in her work as an RN at Doctor's Medical Center for 27 years. She enjoyed her work and made many lasting friendships.

A large part of her growing up years were spent with Boyd cousins. They enjoyed spending many hours together - camping, gardening and canning at grandpa & grandma's, sew days and sleep overs. She also was especially close to her Denlinger cousins, staying closely involved with their lives.

On February 7, 2004, she was married to Jay Cook. They were blessed with two children, Nathan & Katelyn. Deanna was a devoted wife and mother. She was very involved with all the children's activities, always going the extra mile. From sewing costumes, making the kindergarten class Christmas stockings with their names, to making chocolate chip cookies for all their events. It was hard on her the last several months to not be involved in Katelyn's school events. Deanna loved to take road trips, making many trips to Oregon and Idaho to visit family and friends. The family also enjoyed many camping trips and made annual trips to Glamis with friends.

Deanna had a strong faith and was baptized on July 29, 1992. Her church families were very special to her and she faithfully served with those she worshiped with. She had a quiet faith that she lived out to all those she interacted with.

Deanna had a special love for her nephews and nieces and was a favorite aunt. Auntie Dee was always interested in what they were doing and she delighted in gifting them with special gifts; shoes were her specialty. Her great nephews and nieces had a special place in her heart as well.

In 1999, Deanna was diagnosed with Hodgkins's lymphoma. She faced this disease with grace and determination. After chemo and radiation, she was given a clean bill of health. She enjoyed good health until 2018, when she was diagnosed with colon cancer and began a seven-year journey in which she persevered with a quiet strength and dignity. Her trust in God never wavered and she continued to praise Him for his continual care and unending grace. She was a testimony of perseverance to many, especially those facing their own trials.

She was preceded in death by her father, a little over a year ago in September of 2024.

She is survived by her husband Jay, son Nathan and daughter Katelyn; her mother Phyllis, siblings, Debbie & Ben Eller, Matthew & Karey Denlinger and Donna & John Overholtzer, father-in-law Al Cook and mother-in-law Royanne Cook and many nephews and nieces.

We would like to thank Dr. Mohamed Eldaly and Nurse Practitioner Michelle DiGiovanni at the Emmanuel Cancer Center and Dr. Wesley Kidder at UCSF for their care and medical guidance through this journey. We would also like to thank all of you who have prayerfully supported us, reaching out in many different ways. Your love has been felt and appreciated.

The Cook family asks that memorial gifts in honor of Deanna Cook be directed to Central Valley Christian Academy in lieu of flowers. CVCA is meaningful to their family-her husband Jay and son Nathan are alumni, and her daughter Katelyn is a current senior.

Gifts will support counseling services for CVCA students, reflecting Deanna's caring spirit.
