Deanna Joyce (Humer) Herda, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 83, in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Born on December 15, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Deanna was the cherished daughter of Mildred and Louis Humer.

Deanna's early life was marked by her education at Cardinal Stritch High School in Chicago, where she excelled and developed a passion for beauty and aesthetics. Following her graduation, she pursued her dream of becoming a beautician, obtaining her cosmetology license and working in the vibrant beauty industry for a year before dedicating herself to raising her family.

On November 2, 1963, Deanna married the love of her life, Albert William Herda, also in Chicago. Their union lasted an incredible 52 years, marked by mutual respect, love, and devotion. Together, they built a nurturing home filled with laughter, warmth, and bittersweet chaos. Deanna was a proud mother to her seven children: Colleen Kosac, Thomas Herda, Cheryl Dobie, David Herda, Albert Herda, Chrisann Herda, and Rick Herda. She cherished her role as a mother and later as a grandmother to fourteen grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Deanna was a faithful member of Saint James Parish, where her deep-rooted Catholic faith guided her life. She found solace and community within the parish, contributing her warmth to those around her. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality; she had an enduring love for Elvis Presley, an eye for collecting unique items, and an artistic flair for decorating her home, often adorned with doilies that showcased her creativity. Deanna also had her own unique touches, relishing her Newport cigarettes as a personal indulgence.

In her later years, Deanna continued to embody strength and resilience. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert, whose absence she felt deeply. Despite the challenges life presented, she remained a beacon of light for her family and friends, always ready with a quirky remark to make us laugh.

Deanna's life will be celebrated on October 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Davenport Funeral Home at 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. in Crystal Lake, where family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9am until the service, and honor her memory. As we reflect on her life, we are reminded of her love and the joyful memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.

Deanna Joyce (Humer) Herda leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and creativity that will live on through her family and friends. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
